Protecting important works of art for future generations

The British Library is the second largest library in the world, and holds around 14 million books, including many rare archives, manuscripts and drawings. Its security system had been in place for over 20 years and was no longer fit for purpose. We were tasked with installing an IP CCTV solution that would help keep these important works safe for future generations, all while keeping disruption to a minimum and protecting a building steeped in heritage.

Key activities

  • CCTV installation
  • Proactive and reactive system maintenance
  • Advanced monitoring and reporting

Peace of mind

By replacing the old analogue cameras with a new state-of-the-art digital system, we were able to help the British Library ensure that their guidelines and protocols for handling books were being followed by visitors at all times.

Ongoing support

Despite the building’s high ceilings and an enormous 120,000 square foot of space to cover, our design and careful implementation of an intricate and bespoke security system means the library is now more secure than ever. Our 24/7 support, advanced monitoring and proactive maintenance also ensures peace of mind, because downtime is kept to a minimum.
